Luxury Cruises with Hurtigruten

Are you looking to cruise the Norwegian Fjords? Would you like nature and wildlife to feature on your cruise? Are you looking for an amazing Polar experience? Is it important that you have frequent shore excursions to a selection of wonderful sites? If so then read on….

Hurtigruten is the cruise company for the Norwegian Fjords, Arctic and Antarctic, specialising in close encounters and wildlife-themed itineraries. They operate a fleet of 14 ships of various sizes from the 400 passenger MS Lofoten to the 1,000 passenger MS Midnatsol. Cabins on Hurtigruten ships vary in size and appointment from a simple double room to a spacious suite with private balcony. All ships have sun decks and glass enclosed panorama lounges, café, bar and restaurant, exercise rooms, jacuzzi and / or sauna. The ships are equipped with the latest technology to ensure that the propulsion systems make a minimal amount of noise and vibration. This allows you to glide silently through the majesty of the Fjords and to hear the eerie creaking of icebergs in the Antarctic.

Many of Hurtigruten’s itineraries are based around the route between Bergen and Kirkenes, taking in the stunning scenery of the Fjords. En route you’ll have the opportunity to visit the elegant Art Nouveau town of Ålesund, the Nidaros Cathedral at Trondheim and experience the dramatic landscape and wildlife near the Russian border. In winter, experience the unforgettable sight of the Northern Lights swirling green and mauve in the skies above you. Norway has more days of Aurora Borealis than anywhere else in the world. All Hurtigruten’s Norwegian itineraries cover areas where sightings are most likely.

In Spring, Hurtigruten offers a delightful Western European itinerary, travelling from Lisbon to Dover. There is also a chance to travel from Oslo to St Petersburg taking in the ‘Pearls of the Baltic’. Further North, Hurtigruten offers a chance to explore the Kingdom of the Polar Bear with a voyage to Spitsbergen or Svaalbard. Enjoy some of the most spectacular wildlife on earth with sightings of Polar Bears and Walrus, Seals, Whales, Arctic Foxes and many seabirds. At the other end of the earth, you can sail past majestic icebergs, get up close to colonies of King and Emperor Penguins, visit Shackleton’s grave and the old whaling stations in South Georgia.
